Mid-America Beverage is a beer and wine wholesaler based out of Kokomo, IN. We service all of Howard, Tipton, Grant, Carroll, Cass, White, Pulaski, Marshall, Fulton, Wabash, and Tippecanoe counties as well as parts of Hamilton, Benton, and St. Joseph counties.
Mid-America Beverage’s roots trace back to 1914, when Albert Miller started Miller Transportation at the age of 14 in Kokomo, IN. Miller transportation began as a horse and buggy, which Albert used to pick up traveling salesmen from the local train station and drive them around to the local stores peddling their merchandise. Miller Transportation eventually grew into one of the largest trucking companies in the state of Indiana.
In 1934, just after prohibition had ended, Albert Miller was able to obtain a license to wholesale beer, thus Miller Beverage was born. Originally located at 800 N Washington Street, Miller Beverage operated separately from Miller Transportation until 1960, when Miller Transportation was sold. In 1942 Miller Beverage upgraded to a 4,200 square foot warehouse at 1020 South Main St in Kokomo, and later, in 1980, to a 55,000 square foot warehouse at 1221 South Plate St.
In 1994 all brands except for Anheuser-Busch and what would later become Constellation were sold off, including Miller brands. To avoid any confusion, this is when the name was changed from Miller Beverage to Mid-America Beverage. In 1997 Mid-America moved yet again. This time to a 65,000 square foot warehouse at 2755 Commerce Dr. It was later expanded to 110,000 square feet in the year 2000.
In 2013, Mid-America acquired a portion Tippecanoe Beverage’s territory, which had been based out of Winamac. This expanded Mid-America’s reach to include White, Pulaski, Marshall, Fulton, and parts of Benton and St. Joseph counties.
In 2014, Mid-America acquired from Nelson Beverage the rights to distribute Anheuser-Busch and Constellation products in Wabash county. It also purchased the rights to distribute Constellation products in Fulton and Marshall counties, where it already had an Anheuser-Busch presence.
In recent years, Mid-America has also made a substantial commitment to the craft beer industry. We now distribute beers and ciders from multiple craft breweries from all over the country, including Scarlet Lane, People's Brewing Company, McClure's Orchard, Bier Brewery, Urban Chestnut Brewing Company, Rhinegeist, Goose Island, Devil's Backbone, Elysian, 10 Barrel Brewing Company, Golden Road, Virtue Cider, and New Holland Brewing Company.
